Recently, Maori literature has enjoyed a slight increase with the production and launch of a number of books around the country, which have focused on a variety of subjects such as ancient forms of singing, education and history. In addition, there are also Maori language children’s and text books, which have been in publication for slightly longer periods, for example, The He Purapura and Tautoko collections.
I believe an increase in Maori literature will play a vital part in Maori language revitalization and provide a wealth of resources in this area. So, if you like to write about fiction or non-fiction, history, narratives or poems etc, then why not copyright, patent and publish your works and get your voice out to an appreciative audience. I know I will be one of them.
